After the awards ceremony last autumn, there is already the recognition 'Andalucía Excelente 2018' to Educational Innovation in the Urology Center of Malaga directed by Dr. Pedro Torrecillas. We remember the most important aspects.

The urologist Dr. Pedro Torrecillas has been distinguished by one of the Andalucia Excellent Awards 2018. The jury took into account its innovation in the world of medicine, especially for his career in the introduction of the technique of cryosurgery for treatment of various solid tumors.

The Excellent Andalusia Awards value both professional and corporate talent, as well as the corporate and individual talent of different productive sectors of the national level. Representatives from all Andalusian provinces highlight each year in categories related to medicine, training, environment, logistics, quality, technology and services, among other disciplines. These awards bring to the public sphere the work of the different award winners, highlighting the protagonism of those who, with their effort, determination, dedication and commitment, believe in the Spain brand to be projected both inside and outside the borders. 

In 2009, he was the first European surgeon to perform an intervention of this type, together with his team, for lung cancer. Following the introduction of this technique, he founded with other multidisciplinary specialists, the International Center for cryosurgery, signing an agreement with Haakon Ragde Foundation Seattle (United States) Foundation to apply for the first time in Europe, cancer treatment of Immunomodulated cryosurgery for types of solid character (prostate, kidney, lung, bones, liver, breast and pancreas). Malaga is established as the base city of this project to implant in Europe and the Middle East the treatment with cryo-surgical immunostimulation against cancer.

Dr. Pedro Torrecillas Cabrera is currently vice president of the World Health Sharing Organization, as well as member and director of various national and international scientific societies of urology, cryosurgery, Incontinence and laser; and member of the European Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, integrated, among other personalities, by 60 Nobel Prizes.
