STUDY THE RELATIONSHIP OF ANISAKIS WITH GASTROINTESTINAL CANCER
A group of Spanish researchers have detected antibodies against anisakis in patients with gastrointestinal cancer, which has led them to investigate to what extent anisakis should be considered as a possible risk factor in the development of this type of cancer.
The study, carried out in patients with gastrointestinal tumors, has revealed the presence of antibodies against anisakis in these patients, despite the fact that they had never experienced symptoms of infection by the parasite.
This is the main conclusion of an investigation involving the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM), the Ramón y Cajal Hospital, the San Carlos Clinical Hospital and the La Paz University Hospital. More information.
